Elba Annual 2009 – Daniel Wylie
22 Dec
Today’s Elba Annual features Scottish singer songwriter Daniel Wylie. The former Cosmic Rough Rider has been busy working away in Elba Studios recording his new release “Fake Your Own Death” which is due out in 2010 and from what we have heard it’s gonna be a good un, Stephen even included it in his albums of the year! Here’s Daniel’s 2009 ‘best of’s'…

Album of The Year – “Veckatimest” by Grizzly Bear. It’s such an inventive record, overflowing with great and unusual ideas. More great ideas than you can shake a stick at and more than many bands manage in a whole career.
Favourite New Band – The Low Anthem. Their debut album is beautiful although I would have preferred if they’d stuck to the chilled out stuff as the up-tempo songs sound like a bad impersonation of The Pogues. Thankfully there are only a few of those on this otherwise lovely album.
Best Gig – The best gig I enjoyed playing was at the tiny 13th Note with Anny Celsi and my friend, Nelson Bragg, from Brian Wilson’s band. It was great to finally get the chance to perform with Nelson.
Best Gig – Other
America at The Royal Concert Hall.
Magazine at the Glasgow Academy.
Brian Wilson at The Royal Concert Hall.
Best Memories of 2009 – Hearing Magazine play “The Light Pours Out of Me”, Live. I’ll cherish it forever.
Hopes for 2010/Things You’re Looking Forward To – Looking forward to completing my new album, “Fake Your Own Death”, at the excellent Elba Studios in Glasgow. Working with Stephen Scott has been great fun and the sessions are shaping up well. I should have a fantastic album when it’s completed.
