‘The Dream Gig’

2 Aug

We’re a bit down in the dumps here at Elba, and it’s all because of the poster above. Yeah, sure were pretty excited at the line up, all of the bands have played at our Elba Sessions gigs and if that isn’t a ringing endorsement, then I really don’t know what is! No, we’re a bit glum because it will be the last appearance for the foreseeable future of Le Reno Amps. They’re all off to explore pastures new. Al’s off to China to teach kids doric, Jase is in Elgin, Mandy’s going to France (on Holiday) and Scott will be conquering Castlemilk Chateau Lait (well so their facebook brags anyway).

We’ve had some good times with the amps so we’ll sorely miss them (like a hole in the head hurts) but the gig should be the perfect send off.

Joining Le Reno Amps on the night will be label-mates Chris Devotion & The Expectations and Cuddly Shark along with bad ass cowboys Bad Bad Men.

All the fun kicks of around 7pm on Friday 5th August and it’s a mere £5 to get in. The facebook event page can be found here

Election Night Special

7 May

So Elba went head to head with the nations would be leaders last night and ended up having a bit of a hoe-down at The Liquid Ship. We were joined by local outlaws Bad Bad Men, David Bova and marky:boyofdestiny. I took a few photos which are up on our flickr page but have added the best few below. It was a lovely sunny evening so I took the opportunity to walk a couple of the subway stops, stretch my legs, listen to some music and take some photos hence the first picture… My attempt at something slightly election related, Donald Dewar looks down Buchanan Street on the day the UK went to the polls.

I’ve only recently taken up photography and find taking pictures in a dark basement a bit of a challenge! If anyone has any tips, please let me know!

Elba Sessions Presents…(Six)

25 Apr

The Elba Sessions return to the Liquid Ship in Glasgow once again for the sixth Elba Sessions Presents… evening on May 6th. It falls on Election Day so what better way to spend the early part of your evening before toddling off home to watch Peter Snow on BBC with the official Houses of Parliament swingometer?

This month, it’s straight up acoustic goodness. Heading us up we have an acoustic set from local scoundrels Bad Bad Men who will treat us to their very own brand of rootsy folk. Also on the bill are the comforting songs of David Bova and all the way from sunny Gourock, marky:boyofdestiny.

As always the music starts at 9pm and it’s FREE FREE FREE to get in. Do it!
